It is delicious on its own, but also used in dishes such as onion soup or on toasted cheese as it melts well.

]]> Groats refers to the hulled grains of various cereals, such as oats, wheat, barley and rye. Commercially milled flours have the germ of the grain removed to extend their shelf life.

By milling your own grains you use the germ and bran and retain the nutritious oils, vitamins and fibre. You'll find oat groats at health shops.

Use groats in our recipe for buttermilk oat scones with strawberry jam and vanilla cream.

]]> Creamy, sweet and nutty in flavour, Green tea is a great detoxifying body cleanser but, if left to steep for too long (or at too high a temperature), will leave an unpleasantly bitter taste in the mouth. 

Green tea is renowned for its high antioxidant content – the purer the blend, the more the antioxidants – and is excellent for stimulating blood circulation. The younger the leaves are when picked, the more concentrated the health-enhancing benefits.

Serving suggestion: Fragrant and vibrantly hued, strawberry and lemon green tea is a wonderful palate cleanser. Marry the distinctive flavours of the tea with slices of fresh apple or lemon.
